M~
What a pleasant surprise to walk into the office this evening and see your envelope waiting on me in my box!
MUCHAS!!!!

I thought about you today. I had a cheeseburger @ the Red Bar in Grayton Beach & after a little "Pause That Refreshes" hike on the beach, I walked through town & noticed THE ZOO GALLERY. I walked in and asked if they had any schnauzers. No luck but I was thinking of you.

I'm not sure when I'll finish my blast about the event but in the words of Christopher Register, "Thanks, Dad, THAT WAS SOLID!"
Christopher was so handsome in his tux and his girl, Carsen, was gorgeous.

I got so many autographs it was ridiculous. Hit it off with Eddie Floyd. He wants me to get him booked in Tuscaloosa. I introduced him to Christopher with this comment,"My son served Wilson Pickett supper & got to spend time with him before he took the stage." Floyd replied,"You're not gonna believe where I'm supposed to be tonight. Today is Wilson's birthday and they're having a celebration in his hometown of Prattville! I'm was supposed to be there!"

Randy Owen, the lead singer for Alabama, walked up to Christopher out of the blue & said,"Hey, you've got my hair." It's the truth! Christopher's shaggy head looked just like Owen's did back in the early 80s.

My date, Billy Joe Royal, was a hoot. What a card! He kept his hands and feet to himself but he called me "Darling" and "Sweetheart" one or two too many times.

Gloria Buie, Buddy's wife, was radiant. It was a wonderful event for Buie's family.

Lots more stories. Event of the lifetime.

Thanks again for the newspapers.

best,
r

Sheriff Ted fired a bunch of deputies so the ten of us had to wait an hour to get a deputy to evict the preacher. Thank the Lloyd, he took the advice I left him on the back of my business card,"RENT A BIG TRUCK!"
Anywayzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
I tried to call my B'ham Blind Date for the H of F gig and she wouldn't answer so Buie gave my "date ticket" to my NEW date BILLY JOE ROYAL!
Well, he at least he knows to keep his hands & feet to himself & NOT GET FRESH WITH ME!

I really need you to help me get a date to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Montgomery Thursday, March 25. I'd love to take you if you want to go. We will be sitting at Buddy Buie's table who is being inducted. My son, Christopher, & his girlfriend Carsen are supposed to be seated near Buie's table. I know Bobby Dupree, drummer for the Rockin' Gibraltars, is gonna be there with his wife so there's gonna a be a little group of US.
We're gonna be staying Thursday night @ Meg Strickland's boyfriend's house in Wetumpka. Scott Gellerstedt & I worked together in the handicraft business. He played @ Bama his freshman year but his brother made All-American his Sophomore year.

Anywayzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

I need a date.
I'm a widower now. Sharon passed away Jan. 30.

I thought I was gonna get something going but I was wrong.

I need one thing from you & I'll make it worth your while.
Either come with us to Wetumpka (Christopher can take you back to Tuscaloosa on Friday, March 26, because I'm heading to PCB on Friday) or try to get me a blind date with some of your friends in the Montgomery area.

Anything you can do to help me will be appreciated.

The entertainment at the event will be superb.

I am amazed @ the valor of Gen. Forrest's personal brigade's last calvary charge of the Civil War which occurred at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on 4/1/1865 @ Ebenezer Church on Bolger's Creek, 20 mi. N. of Selma. Forrest's 200 cavalrymen, each armed with 2 Navy Colts, a Spencer repeating rifle & a saber/bowie knife put their reins in their teeth and charged the 17th Indiana.
